1875 “Rising P - Prince Bhanurangsi 2nd Issue” Song Salung(half Baht) ungummed woven purple colour paper locally printed imperforated all four sides, in the middle an oval frame surrounding portrait of the Prince, above the portrait denomination “Song Salung” in Siamese and below “RISING P” in English. Hinged on a small piece of aging paper in fine condition. Purple colour is so far unrecorded in all major collections thus excessively rare and probably unique. Miraculously well preserved in very fresh colour after 144 years.(1) P.A.T. certified #78/2019 / Note: An aging envelope included manuscript (presentred by the King of Siam to Mr. Alabaster....) Mr. Henry Alabaster is an Englishman and Prince Bhanurangsi were the main driving forces to set up Siamese pre postal system. The envelope enclosed within 2 value of Rising P one is this lot in purple c¹olour and another one in green colour which also in this sale.
